Purchasing Protocol:  With the exception of all items restricted to Military/LE/Public Safety Personnel, all payments are processed immediately upon placement of order.  It is the responsibility of the customer to know and be in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws related to selling, transferring, possessing, transporting or using a firearm in the locality in which the customer resides. 

Order Cancellation Policy:  Orders placed with High Plains Gun Shop may be cancelled by the customer prior to the item having shipped.  All cancellation requests must be made through the Customer Service Department, reachable by email (Preferred) or phone at (575)-268-8453. The best time to call is during customer service hours of 5:00 P.M - 9:00 P.M Mountain Standard Time, Monday through Friday, or anytime Saturday.  If the item/package has shipped, the order may not be cancelled and the customer must follow all rules applicable to returns.  Please note that the return of the item/package will be made at the customer's expense.  Any order that was previously cancelled by the customer may not be reversed.  All cancellations are final.

Return Policies:

A. Firearms, Ammunition, and Clothing:
All sales of loaded ammunition and clothing are FINAL, and returns are NOT ACCEPTED. Firearm returns are handled on a case by case basis.  Once a firearm is transferred to a customer's name, High Plains Gun Shop will not normally accept a return or exchange.  If a defect is discovered by the customer after shipment and transfer of ownership, the customer must contact the firearm manufacturer directly for replacement or repair.
B. All Other Purchases:
Return shipping is solely the responsibility of the customer.  If the purchased item(s) is defective or damaged upon receipt, or if the customer is not satisfied with a purchased item(s) and wishes to return it for a refund or replacement, the customer may return the item(s) to High Plains Gun Shop WITHIN 15 DAYS of the date of receipt of delivery of the purchased item. In order to ensure accuracy and to properly credit the return payment, the customer must complete the return form located at the link labelled "Returns" at the bottom of the web page.  Returns will not be processed until a completed return form has been submitted to HPGS.
All returned items must be in the same condition as when they were shipped by High Plains Gun Shop and must be returned in original packaging.  The customer will be assessed a re-stocking fee of 25% of the product sales price if the items are not returned in resalable condition, as determined in the discretion of High Plains Gun Shop.  If a customer orders a product in error, and if the product subsequently ships,the customer is responsible for returning the item and a 15% restocking fee will be applied to the return of the product.  In the case of any returns, actual incurred shipping expenses will not be refunded.  This applies even if the customer selects "Free Shipping" as their shipping method.  If an item is ordered from a manufacturer or distributor on demand to fill an order that is subsequently returned or cancelled, the customer is responsible for a 15% restocking fee.  

Amending Orders– To amend orders, please email sales@highplainsgunshop.com and we will make our best attempt to accommodate your request.

Shipping Times–If an item is listed in stock, the item is in stock at either our inventory supply or in our distributor's inventory supply.    Due to the high demand and excessive order volume, please allow 5-7 business days for your order to ship from our local inventory and 3-5 business days for your order to ship from our distributor's inventory.  Shipping times will vary during the holidays and at peak industry sales times.

Shipping Costs– For all orders excluding firearms and ammunition, merchandise will ship free of charge if the order is in excess of $500.  All orders under $500 will incur a flat $9.95 shipping charge.  Payments made with credit cards incur a 2.5% loss of cash discount. (We are charged 4% to process credit card transactions, but we only pass on 2.5%)   

Website Terms– We do our best to accurately describe the items we sell, but errors do occur.  Prices are subject to change at any time.  High Plains Gun Shop reserves the right to edit, change or clarify information listed on the website or descriptions at any time to correct errors in product listings.  Please be aware that items that are incorrectly listed and subsequently ordered may be cancelled at our discretion.  In the event of a conflict in the description of an item we reserve the right to remove the conflicting information once notified.  We make no warranty on the accuracy of a product listing when a conflict in the product information is present.  Photos shown are not of the actual item being shipped, and may show options not included in the item being sold.  Photos are provided for general identification purposes only and may show optional or additional pieces for illustration purposes that are not included, please refer to the product description for details. Please review these Terms and Conditions closely, as HPGS reserves the right to edit, change, or clarify the Terms and Conditions at any time.  HPGS is not responsible for website performance in any particular browser or the inability for a user to use the website due to, but not limited to, internet connection issues, outages, coding issues, or compatibility.  

Order Tracking– To track your order, log in, click on “My Account”, click on “View Order” on the right hand side of the screen, click “Shipments”, and then click on the tracking number.  If the tracking number has not been added to your order then UPS or USPS has not picked up your order.  Tracking information will be updated at the end of the business day after your order has been picked up by the carrier.

Local Pickup– Order pickup is available only at the Clovis Location.  Orders may be picked up by appointment only.  Any customer who wishes to pick up stripped lower receivers or handguns must be a current resident of New Mexico with a valid NM driver’s license or state approved ID.  Long guns may be picked up by out of state non-licensees provided they do so in person and the transaction is legal in both the transferee and transferor’s state.

Firearm purchases – We only ship to valid FFL dealers. Please contact your local FFL receiving the firearm to verify their transfer fee and to ensure they will receive your transfer. Please follow the directions prompted to you upon adding firearms to your shopping cart. This will ensure speedier delivery. If you order a handgun, stockless shotgun, or stripped lower receiver, YOU MUST be a legal resident of the state in which you are ordering and be at least 21 years of age to complete the transfer through your FFL. Long gun transfers (where legal) may be completed across state lines. Contact your local FFL dealer with any questions regarding the sale or transfer of firearms. The customer is responsible for knowing his/her state laws regarding firearm transfers. The customer assumes all responsibility and a 25% restocking fee for returned firearms due to FFL refusal or failure to receive. *Exceptions- Military personnel stationed at a base in a state other than their legal residence may purchase firearms across state lines. Contact your local FFL receiving the transfer as you may have to provide proof of deployment, residence, etc.

Order Stagnation - Orders that are ready to ship and are in a status that requires action from our customer will sit for 30 days.  If the order is still in process 30 days from the time that the order was initially placed, your order will be fulfilled to the maximum extent possible and the remainder of your order will be cancelled.  If your order is cancelled at this 30 day point, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee for the items that we were unable to ship due to you not providing us with the required items or information to process your order.  (I.E. not providing us with a valid FFL to ship a firearm to within 30 days after the order has been placed).  This policy is put in place because we do not operate by keeping someone else's hard earned money for an extended period of time.   

Backorders - When you purchase a firearm on backorder status, your credit card is only used to guarantee you your position in line to purchase the firearm of your choosing.  Our website will only run an authorization on your card.  No charges will be posted to your credit card until the weapon is in hand and ready to ship to your location.  You may cancel your backorder without any penalty up until the item has physically left our warehouse.  Once the item has shipped, your order is final and it will be subject to our Return policy.  Some manufacturers do not provide any estimates or lead times for backorders. 

Firearm Parts Ordering Restrictions:

Assault weapon parts - Until the new Connecticut law is clarified, no assault weapon parts will be shipped to CT.

Magazines– We abide by all state, federal and local laws regarding magazines. If you are law enforcement in CA (AR-15/AK High Capacity Magazines Sold as Rebuild Kits ONLY), HI, MA, NJ, MD or NY.

Magazine Ordering Restrictions:

We abide by all state regulations regarding the sale of high capacity magazines. We DO NOT ship high capacity magazines (those greater than 10 rounds) with firearms to the states listed below. We will not replace high capacity magazines with state compliant magazines, nor do we offer refunds in place of the magazines. The responsibility for understanding state laws regarding magazine capacities is on the customer.

Customers ordering AR-15 rifles from states regulating magazine capacity will not receive a 30 round magazine, nor a 10 round compliant magazine unless specifically stated in the product description.

States with applied magazine restrictions:

California - no magazines greater than 10 rounds

Connecticut - no magazines greater than 10 rounds

Maryland - no magazines greater than 20 rounds

New Jersey - no magazines greater than 15 rounds

New York - no magazines greater than 10 rounds

Hawaii - no magazines greater than 10 rounds

Illinois - no magazines greater than 12 rounds (Chicago/Cook county)

- no magazines greater than 15 rounds (Aurora area)

Massachusetts - no magazines greater than 10 rounds

Ohio - no magazines greater than 30 rounds


*L.E.Os must provide both their credentials and a letterhead signed by their department's superior officer stating that the magazine/weapon will be used in the execution of the L.E.O's duties.

*California customers may have their high cap magazines shipped to those FFLs that possess a HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINE PERMIT, and that offer re-pinning services. The permit must be received by HPGS's compliance dept. before the magazine ships.

NOTES:  * Firearms orders typically ship after we have received a copy of the correct FFL.

Ammunition Ordering Restrictions:

1. You agree and accept all policies described in our Terms of Use.
2. You are at least 21 years of age (for handgun ammunition) or 18 years of age (for rifle ammunition).
3. By purchasing ammunition, you are not violating any local, state, or federal laws.
4. You have not been convicted of any felony, a misdemeanor of domestic abuse, and you are not chemically dependent.
5. You have no legal restraint that would prohibit you from possessing, ordering, owning, or transferring ammunition.
6. You have never been committed to any mental institution, or been adjudicated as mentally defective.
7. You will not sell ammunition to any minor.
8. You cannot have ammunition shipped to a post office box.
9. You do not live in a state, city, or county that prohibits you from owning, purchasing, or transferring ammunition. The following is a list of areas where we will not ship ammunition to. This is not a comprehensive list, but is meant as a guide. It is in no way meant to include all laws and restrictions across the United States. Please contact the authorities in your area for any possible restrictions. If you do live in a restricted area, your order will be canceled.

California: No Sales to the cities of Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento and San Francisco.

Alaska: No Sales. Must be shipped to a freight forwarder.

Hawaii: No Sales. Must be shipped to a freight forwarder.

Illinois: No Sales to the city of Chicago. All other Illinois residents must email us a copy of their FOID card in addition to their State ID. Ammunition must ship to an address on one of these ID's.

Massachusetts: No Sales

Maryland: No Sales to the City of Annapolis and Montgomery County

New York: No Sales to New York City, or its five Burroughs. Starting January 1st, 2014 all ammunition must be sent to a FFL.

Washington DC: No Sales.

New Jersey: When ordering ammunition commonly used in a handgun/to be used in a handgun, email us a copy of your Firearms ID. We must ship to the address on the FID.


All submitted orders for products that are illegal to own in place of residence will be cancelled and you will be charged a 10% restocking fee.
